Currently, the city continues to follow its historical vocation in economic activity with emphasis on agricultural production and fishing.
In Baia Formosa is the largest reserve of Atlantic forest still preserved in Rio Grande do Norte: the Mata da Estrela with an area of more than 2000 hectares.
Tours and visitations are restricted because it is a Private Reserve of Natural Heritage, listed by state.
In the Mata da Estrela, the Lagoon of Coca-Cola is an attraction on its own with its dark waters that the natives believed to have medicinal and rejuvenating powers.
Beautiful and intersected by wild aspects of nature, the city still breathes an air completely unexplored.
Located on the southern coast of Rio Grande do Norte, Bahia Formosa is 94 km from Natal, 110 km from João Pessoa (PB) and 220 km from Recife (PE) on the road BR-101.
